This grouping of tags is from the late 1800's and they are wonderful bits of history. The are railroad tags from the ATLANTIC COAST LINE RAILROAD CO.

The Atlantic Coast Line Company was organized on May 29, 1889 as a holding company for a system of railroads from Richmond and Norfolk, Virginia south and southwest to Augusta, Georgia.

The Atlantic Coast Line Railroad (reporting mark ACL) was an American railroad that existed between 1898 and July 1, 1967, when it merged with the Seaboard Air Line Railroad, its long-time rival, to form the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad. The company was headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida (Wilmington, North Carolina before 1961). After several more mergers and consolidations, the former ACL is now part of CSX Transportation, also headquartered in Jacksonville.

They are primitive, rustic and show the signs of time. They would have been utilized to number the sleeping cars and Pullman bunks.

The patina is spectacular for primitive designs.

They are approximately 2-1/8 inches wide and 1 inch tall.

These are light enough to be utilized as focal pieces in jewelry designs. Perfect size for a bracelet or bend them a little to create ankle braclets! Superb for steampunk creations. Great items to incorporate into assemblage or mixed media pieces or other artistic creations!

The tags are in antique condition with the normal patina that you would expect of items this old! I did clean them up some because they were pretty dirty!
