Breathtaking Quilpie boulder opal from Australia shaped as an off center teardrop. Probably one of the hardest opals I ever photographed and it will be even harder to describe it in words. CHRISTMAS SALE: 25% off your entire order with code: Santa25.

The base color of this gem ranges from delicate pinks through lavenders to purples and blues. All these colors contrast beautifully with the tans and browns of the iron stone matrix. The formations of the matrix deep within the stone give it an appearance of a crystal clear lake with wild rock formations on the bottom visible through the shimmering purple waters.

And throughout all of this, there are sparkles of bright turquoise and blue fire! The more you look at it the more it reveals.

You cannot truly appreciate this opal until you hold it in your hand. When it came to me as a piece of rough, it did not look like much. But as I started working on it, it slowly revealed its magic and I totally fell in love with it. I'm sure you will too.

This opal is eye clean and free of cracks.
The photos were taken under regular compact fluorescent light. The opal becomes alive and much more colourful in natural sunlight. It is shaped with a high dome and edge relief all around to prevent cracks during setting. The last photo shows the back and the profile of the stone.

Dimensions: 19.5 mm x 13 mm x 5 mm, 7.5 ct.

Videos of the opal can be seen here:

All my opals are hand cut and polished in my basement. I try to reveal as much of the natural beauty and color as I can in my work. It may take anywhere from 2 to 4 hrs to process one opal. I love polishing them and I hope that shows in my stones.

This opal will be well wrapped in bubble wrap to protect it during shipping and will be shipped insured.
