I recently purchased a colorful and unique antique quilt. I believe it was made in the 1930's. I knew that this quilt needed some repair, but bought it anyway. When I got it home and examined it more closely, realized it was beyond repair. I could not bring myself to discard this obviously much loved and very old quilt. Since I could only get small sections that were useable, I thought I could keep this very old quilt alive by making these simple, colorful and practical little pincushions.

Besides the top of the pincushion being recycled from this old quilt, the bottom was taken from a vintage chenille bedspread. I used vintage button in the center for tufting.

Size 4" square (not including fringe)

I think these would make sweet little Mother's Day gifts for a young person.

***Please keep in mind....the quilt used was at least 80 years old. It is not perfect. There is fading and some repairs done to this old quilt. I believe these characteristics add to the charm of this little piece.
