Knife is very large vintage kitchen utensil to use for cutting big items, chopping and slicing. Shower or wedding gift idea by itself or with a vintage gift basket. Excellent choice for hunter or livestock producer. Sharp blade is 11.5", overall 17" x 1.5" x .875". Antique patina with a primitive look. Labeled Shapleigh's Hammered Forged 1843-1934 on the blade and Old Hickory on the handle. Handle is drilled for hanging, adding extra character. The steel in old knives is very good. This brand is a predecessor to Keenkutter and was designed for butchering, specifically, quartering large animals.
