These are a lovely bright blue and very shiny, highlighted with a fancy gold edge. The buttons in the pictures look like they are uneven or irregular, but they have a smooth rounded shape on top. The illusion is caused by the wonderful variegation in color. I can't decide if these are glass, but they seem to have more weight than plastic usually does.

Not quite 3/4 inch in diameter, they measure 18mm and stand about 8mm high.

There are 4 buttons on a card.

The card is marked: Made in the U.S. Zone in Germany. So post World War II, between 1947-1949.

The card in wrinkled and soiled, but the buttons are like new.

These were part of a bag of carded buttons I found at an estate sale. From the 1920s to the 1950s, the buttons themselves are in excellent condition, the cards however are crumpled and dusty and sometimes stained. I have decided to leave these attached to the cards where possible as the provide such a clue to their origins and age.
