Throughout the ages and found in many cultures Cairns have been used for centuries as path markers and landmarks. My Cairns are inspired by such stacks and I like to think that they can serve as reminders for the wearer of the power and guidance from within and without that is ever available to us. I've been a stone stacker for years, but typically in the garden, at the beach, on a trail, in the woods... My habit of stone stacking finally found it's way to my work table.

These Lapis cairns are a new twist on a beloved design. I just happened upon this remarkable natural Afghani Lapis. The rondelles are unpolished, natural, and irregular - each unlike the next and beautifully complex with swirls of calcite and sparkles of pyrite here and there. This descending Cairn is created with two Lapis rondelles and a natural Turquoise disc placed between them. Each of the three stones creating this stack are perfectly imperfect, complex and beautiful.

The base Lapis stone measures 13mm x 6mm and each earring is a total of 14mm in length measuring from the bottom of the Sterling earring wire.
