This is an art quilt on canvas of the Nazca lines. The Nazca Lines, which range from simple lines to very complex designs, are located in southern Peru in the Nazca desert. Some of the more complex designs consist of monkeys, trees, hummingbirds or human figures to name a few. They were made by moving the darker pebbles on the suface of the desert to the side to reveal the lighter ground beneath. To learn more about the Nacza Lines go to the following website...

This art quilt was constructed using batik fabrics. I chose fabrics that I felt would represent the arid desert. When the quilt was finished I sewed along the edges of the quilt with wool yarn. Then I hand sewed the quilt onto a canvas I painted using Shiva Paintstiks.

Canvas size is 9" X 12" with a 1 3/8" profile.
