This gorgeous crown brooch from Trifari features blue, red and aqua cabachons set in sterling with a gold vermeil wash. The cabachons are offset by green and clear rhinestones, and unfortunately, two clear stones at the very bottom of the crown are missing.

The patent for this gorgeous brooch -- patent # 137542 -- was issued to Alfred Phillipe on March 28, 1944. The brooch and earring set appeared in several Trifari ads in 1945, and is featured in several books in different color palettes, including Christe Romero's "Warman's Jewelry" and Robert Brunialti's American Costume Jewelry, N-Z."

The back of the brooch is marked Trifari Sterling Patent No. 137542. It measures 2" wide and 1 3/4" high. The earrings are in excellent condition and measure 15/16" high. They feature a large blue cabachon and red rhinestone topped by a little flurry of diamante stones which are difficult to see in the photo.

A memorable set from the golden era of Trifari, priced accordingly for its flaws.....
