♛The Details

I wish to gad sometimes that I had an office job, if only to strut in wearing something like this little number. I also always love finding patriotic Victory motifs in clothing, and the wartime military influence in this suit is quite evident, from its neat and tidy cut to its muted military hue. I'm guessing it was marketed in celebration of the end of World War II -- those four Victory V-shaped pockets sit prominently in view like medals of honor.

It's quite simply a fantastic piece of vintage fashion and history. Museum quality.

Constructed of a fine-quality wool gabardine in two tones of cocoa and chocolate, it's lined through the jacket in pebbled crepe and through the seat of the skirt. The weight and quality are clearly evident the moment you hold the suit. Precise, architectural seams give this suit its gloriously feminine cut. Substantial shoulder pads hold that sharp line. Notched winged cuffs and a classic four-gore skirt complete the picture perfectly.

Jacket closes with self fabric buttons and bound buttonholes. Skirt closes with side metal zipper and hidden hooks/eyes.

Designer label is Athena of Beverly Hills, and it also has its Rochelle Toledo, Ohio label. It also has its National Recovery Board label intact.

I wish I knew more about this designer. Her mastery is clearly evident.

Don't hesitate -- the last time I listed a Victory suit, it sold within a couple hours. They are not easy to find!
