Imagine this handsome raku pot sitting on your fireplace mantle or on your favorite bookcase.

This stoneware vase was thrown on a pottery wheel, I coated the piece with Terra Sigilata, and burnished until it developed a shine, and it was bisque fired.

It was fired to around 1600 degrees F. When the raku kiln reached temperature, the piece was removed and pieces of horsehair were placed on it . The carbon from the singed horshair creates the squiggly lines.

Raku pieces are decorative only. These pieces are fragile and are not food safe, nor will they hold water. You can display these pieces as they are, or use dry materials (feathers, dried flowers, silk flowers, twigs, etc.) to make a lovely arrangement.

6.5" wide x 8" tall
total weight 3 lb.

Look for other raku pottery in my shop, both horsehair and glazed.http://www.etsy.com/shop/muddywaterscc?ref=si_shop
