I am not sure, but Jane Eyre may be my favorite first person novel. I did not read it until my late 20's and I think being older the first time I read it made me appreciate it more. I have since read everything I can get my hands on about the sad, doomed Bronte sisters. When I saw this lovely creature in a fashion plate from the 1840's, she made me think of several of the Jane Eyre's in recent movie versions. I just had to have her and somehow link her to Jane Eyre.

The left interior of this card features the famous quote (my favorite) from Chapter 23, "I am no bird; and not net ensnares me, I am a free human being with an independent will."

If you would like me to use this image on a moleskine journal, just send me a convo and I will happy to make you a special listing.
