When knitting or crocheting, Yarn bowls or Knitting Helpers keep your wool clean, off the floor and away from the cats (should you have 'em). This brown bowl is pretty to look at, and great for storing your knitting project while it is in progress. This yarn bowl features a sweet (if slightly sheepish) fluffy creature I named Sophie!

This listing is for 1 Yarn Bowl (accessories not included)

The actual bowl pictured in the first 2 photos is the bowl you will get!

CURIOUS HOW I MADE THIS?
I throw my bowls on my potter's wheel from white stoneware and trim the bottom of the bowl to create a wide, stable foot. At this point, a clay medallion stamped with 'Sophie the Sheep' (using a stamp which I carved myself) is added onto the bowl. I carve a 'L' shaped notch to allow removal of the ball of yarn from the bowl during the project. I also add two holes on either side of the notch, to allow storing knitting needles (as pictured). You could also use them to run yarn through, if you don't plan to remove the yarn during the project.

I glaze the bowl with a lovely semi-matte brown glaze. The foot-ring of the bowl is unglazed. The bottom of the bowl is stamped with my maker's mark ('Miri Hardy').

I mix all my glazes from scratch, so I know exactly what is in them. The glazes I use are food safe and do not include lead or other toxic materials. The yarn bowls can be safely put in the microwave or dishwasher, if you so desire.

Customer Feedback for my yarn bowls:

"I just wanted to let you know that I have been knitting with my bowls and they are such a joy! I have never owned one before, and honestly thought I would just get one because they are pretty, but it actually works really nice for my knitting! The sizes are perfect and the edges are nice and smooth. The needle holes are great as well. The weight is perfect and they don't budge when I'm knitting...I LOVE them.. I'm actually kinda bummed when I need to take my knitting OUT of the bowl when I'm knitting on the go! ."

"I am using my yarn bowl and it works great. Working on a baby afghan and no more yarn getting away from me. I love it."
