This is a rare collector’s item! These big 18 inch classic pond yachts were made in 1965 for Phillips 66 as a promotional item and were only sold at their automotive service stations and yachting marinas. Nearly 50 vintage years old, she's ship shape and ready for a new Captain!

Made of brilliant red and white plastic, this awesome battery powered boat has wheels on the bottom for rolling along on smooth surfaces, but it also floats and has a set of wheels that work like propellers to make it go in the water! Yes, way!

This has been tested with batteries on land and it works great. I have not put it to sea to find out how she floats. The wheels underneath the boat serve to drive it on land and in the water. It goes pretty fast on land! Very exciting! It looks fantastic just sitting up on a shelf too!

This set appears to be complete, but with so many parts and add-on's, it's hard to know for certain. It may be missing something, so please check out the photos. It has several sets of stickers, including custom lettering for putting your own name and port of call on the back transom and your choice of call lettering on the side. It has a clear plastic windshield on the bridge, white seats, hand rails, cleats, horns, a fire extinguisher and numerous other details. There are a few plastic parts, such as the flag poles and such that haven’t even been attached to the boat yet and they are in great shape, ready for use.

The box converts into a Phillips 66 marina gas dock, with a cardboard “store”, light poles, banners and flags and two plastic gas pumps. The box is quite worn, torn, and dirty and it has some water damage. At least the box has protected the boat well! If I were going to keep this toy, I would repair the original box with tape on the inside and then spray paint it white. If it looked good, then I would attach all of the original parts and stickers to put it on display alongside the boat. Otherwise I would just use a new box and make that the Marina dock.

This set also has the operating instructions, a complete manual for putting it together and information about Phillips 66 marinas and services, circa 1965. It has the original warranty and registration cards too!

While it doesn’t look like it was ever put to sea, it has been handled and as a result it has a few small vintage scuffs in the plastic and there is a small partial crack in the plastic windshield, but it's not really that bad. Other than those specific issues, it is in great shape with no other cracks or broken parts I could find. It could use a wipe down due to finger prints from being handled. Everybody wants to play with it!

It will certainly be an awesome vintage display item with your personalization in finishing off the placement of your choice of decals and stickers.

The original box measures 6 inches high X 19 inches long X 7 wide and it weighs 2 lbs and 5 oz.

I found the text of the original Phillips 66 Advertisement online which reads:

“Fabulous new toy! Fun afloat…or on shore! Phillips 66 Power Yacht

Big 18 inch yacht! Twin battery motor powers this toy through the water. Set the rudder so she’ll circle back or control her course from shore with a self-contained line! She’s built of Phillips Marlex plastic…built to last!

Runs on land too! It has wheels for more fun – indoors or out! Plus custom lettering set. A great all-weather, all-year-round toy! Sold only at Phillips 66 stations or marinas.

Model Marina Pier is part of the kit…box converts to your own pier…with pumps, pennants – the works – included! Go first class…go Phillips 66!”

Thanks for looking, Captain! :)
