Mixed media drawing with machine sewn power lines and hand embroidered telephone poles. 9" x 12" gallery wrapped edges, fitted with picture wire & ready to hang.

The Sewn City Collection:

Inspired by the patterns and shapes created by power lines this collection began as original photographs taken in and around Somerville/Cambridge MA that were then broken down, removing layers of texture and detail, until only a few simple forms remained. A mix of fabric dye and concentrated water colors lends a sense of atmosphere and ghostly color to many of the machine sewn and hand embroidered scenes. The more recent works in this collection utilize colored pencils, chalk and pastels to add color and detail below the lines of stitching.
