Here is an original piece of artwork entitled "My Own Prison" from my studio Asylum Artwork and Oddities. This piece was made using a 5 x 7 frame, that can be self-standing for table top display, or can be hung on a wall, etc.

"My Own Prison" is a term that expresses the cycle of drug use and addiction. As hard as one may try, it is so easy to become a slave to the drug, leaving behind all of the things you once loved and cared about. You become a prisoner of your addiction, and it seems nearly impossible to break this cycle.

The subject matter of this piece conveys the hopeless feeling that comes with advanced drug addiction. Please note that my artwork is not intended to glorify drug use, rather the exact opposite. Drug addiction is a real disease, that takes the lives of many each day.

This piece has a dark feel to it, despite the use of white pearlescent glitter background. It contains a 3ml syringe with a 1.5 inch 20 gauge needle atached to it. The liquid in the barrel of the syringe was made to look like an injectable form of an ilicit drug, however, I can assure you that it is NOT. Rather, the liquid was made from mixing a brown pigment dye with water and tea. The syringe and needle are real, however I have placed super glue into the needle, rendering it unusable. This will also help prevent the liquid from seeping out onto the background. This piece is for art purposes only, and you should not attempt to use this syringe for anything other than that!

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thank you for looking, and have a wonderful day!!
