This is a sweet pair of antique Victorian baby or toddler's buttoned boots dating from c.1860-1880. They're made of soft brown leather, with delightful scalloped sides and 4 black shoe buttons on each. Toes are trimmed with floral chain stitch embroidery. Lined in pale blue cotton. Leather soles and tiny heels!
These measure 5" long measured on the bottom, about 3" high at the back, 5 1/2" around the top edge and 2" across the bottom ball of the foot.
Condition is good, considering the age and the fact that busy toddler feet wore them! There is wear to the leather on the toes, the buttonholes are frayed. It's possible to see that the buttons were moved to allow for a plumper ankle! The heels were once yellow, which can be clearly seen on the bottom of one...wonder why it lasted better than the other? Very cute and charming little boots for display with other antique baby or doll items, or for photography.
