"I Got a Black Magic Woman
I Got a Black Magic Woman
Yes, I Got a Black Magic Woman
She's got me so blind I can't see
she's a Black Magic Woman
She's tryin to make a devil out of me."
--Santana

I love New Orleans, it is without a doubt, one of the most colorful and cultural places in the United States. Mystical, magical, historical and sometimes dark, the town has a flavor all its own. From beautiful flowering courtyards to the bawdy French Quarter, there is nothing like it.

Marie Laveau was a Louisiana Creole practitioner of Voodoo renowned in New Orleans.
Most everything known about Marie Laveau is supposition. She was born in New Orleans (or Saint Domingue). She was a multi-racial, multi-cultural free woman of color; a Creole and a devout Catholic.

Sometime in the 1820's she became a full time practitioner of voodoo.
The only certain thing is that she is the most famous voodoo queen in U.S.history and a fascinating character study. Thousands of people visit her mausoleum every year. (if she is indeed buried there.)

This listing is for one voodoo hat pin, If you have more than one effigy to stick, I have made several more as shown in the fourth photo. So if you have a whole hoard of people you want to get revenge upon, convo me and I will add more! (Smile! This is said with tongue in cheek.)

This pin also has a sort of Renaissance feel to it and would be right at home at a Renaissance Fair on an elaborate medieval hat or cape. It exudes a chain mail or armor aura.

A six inch silver hat pin is embellished with a mixture of metals--copper filigree being the innermost, gun metal filigree being the outermost layer. Inside lies a single white glass teardrop pearl. Gun metal and copper spacers round out this metallic beauty. It resembles something like a jack in the pulpit. I love the unusual mix of metals--it just adds something to the pin--a darkness.

If you are new to the beautiful world of hat pins, consider their uses:
grouped together in a sunny location as sun catchers,
displayed on an antique vanity,
fanned out in a crystal perfume vase or vintage pin cushion,
pinned through a beautiful tapestry pillow,
arranged in a bridal bouquet as a keepsake.
Just plain beautiful things!

This hat pin will come packaged on a lovely handmade card for gift giving or perhaps just as a treat for yourself. Presentation is everything. I hope you enjoy this wonderful hat pin!
