Fresh from my dining room studio...I've made this lovely linen case, just perfect for holding pens or mechanical pencils or markers. If you prefer, it would be a fabulous way to keep your crochet hooks or reading glasses close at hand.

For this project, I've used my precious scraps from the hard-to-find Patisserie fabrics - designed a few years ago by Fig Tree Quilts for Moda. I've chosen the caramel swirl print for the lining. and several tiny coordinates in berry and butterscotch for the accent strips and closure. The outer fabric is a beautifully textured 100% European linen in wheat. Inside I've discreetly applied my "eamylove" label, so you'll know I made it just for you!

We all need a bit of "zakka" in our world! Zakka is sweeping the design and fashion industries, and is described as "the art of seeing the savvy in the ordinary and mundane". A new book called "Zakka Style" by Rashida Coleman-Hale contains 24 fabulous projects that incorporate linen and zakka attitude, to create useful items that are also exceedingly attractive. My version of the Zakka Pencil Case was designed by contributor Shannon Dreval. You can visit her beautiful blog at www.petitsdetails.com for more charming projects, glimpses of vintage France and her finds at the flea markets of Paris!

And don't forget to follow me at my blog as I create more Zakka Style projects! www.eamylove.blogspot.com

{The sewing props shown in the photo are, of course, not included, but they give an idea of just how lovely this case will be in your world.}

The finished pencil case measures 2 1/2" wide. When closed it is about 7 - 7 1/2" long. I've made my case a tad bit longer than the instructions, so that full-length pencils can fit in it. Pens, mechanical pencils and crochet hooks will experience a more "relaxed fit" as shown. ;)

As always, shipping is free if you order a larger item from my shop!
