Wonderful vintage pillow is made from a pieced and hand sewn ecru lace panel overlaid on fine cotton in a shade of azure like the summer sky.

Four bobbin lace squares with a floral motif are surrounded by rows of Ayrshire lace with an Art Nouveau tulip pattern. The edge is finished with a bobbin lace border in the same floral motif as the squares. Measures 15 by 18 inches. Two of the squares show some broken threads in the net surrounding the flowers; there is a mended spot on the bobbin lace border.

The pillow back has a two button-placket with vintage mother-of-pearl flower-shaped buttons. The cotton pillow insert is amply filled with soft goose down mixed with goose feathers.

The pillow was found at a Connecticut estate sale. The case should be hand-washed in lukewarm water, dried flat. Pillow insert may be machine-washed according to method for goose down pillows.
