The book jacket has a bit of wear to it, including one corner being cut off of in the inside of the front flap and two tears on the back. Other than that there are no major issues.

INSIDE THE FRONT FLAP -

Sculptor Shay Rieger has created a warmly personal introduction to sculpture for children by telling how she went about making eight bronze animals. By means of photographs and a lively description, she takes the reader to the zoo, where she draws the animals; to her studio, where she translates her sketches into clay or plaster; and then to the foundry for a look at the fascinating process by which the sculptures are cast. Children will delight to see the finished bronze animals placed in their settings--a city garden in Harlem and a country garden in Connecticut. As a first book about sculpture The Bronze Zoo will give the young child an awareness of one of our most engaging art forms, and will bring him close to the creative life of an artist of today.

INSIDE THE BACK FLAP -

Shay Rieger began modeling in clay as a small girl, and her mature work retains a charming joy and an affection for her subjects. She studied in Manhattan at the Art Students' League, and after experimenting with abstract painting and sculpture, she progressed to her present field of the odd and wonderful denizens of the animal world.

Since 1960 Miss Rieger has had five one-man shows in New York City, and has exhibited in group shows in galleries and museums. Her work is represented in many private collections in this country and abroad. This is her first book.
