♛The Details

Thrillingly lovely 1930s dress in a silky-smooth rayon. The print kills me! It looks like those fountain fireworks, spewing sparks and stars. But it could also be burlesque feather fans. It's really up to you. The colors are muted coral red, delphite blue, white, and cake batter yellow against a navy blue ground. The neck tie detail is piped in red for contrast.

The puffed sleeves have small turnback cuffs and are a feat of pleating and architecture in themselves! The bodice is like a fitted jacket; it floats over a loose tank layer of navy blue cotton voile.

Vertical trapunto travels down the bodice and and curves over each hip. The skirt is a column of liquidy-soft rayon. There are fabric belt loops if you would like to add a contrasting slim belt and really punch up the colors and the nipped look.

Tiny remnants of a neck tag remain. This dress simply slips over head (neckline opens up more than it looks like from photo). Still, you need to have smallish shoulders to get in and out, or you need to have a snap placket installed on a side seam by someone who knows how to sew.

All accessories (belts, jewelry, crinolines, pins, etc.) are for style inspiration only unless indicated.

♛The Measurements

About a modern size S to M
Bust (underarm to underarm, measured flat then doubled): 36"
Waist: 30" and has loops if you'd like to add a belt to cinch smaller
Hips: 38"
Bodice length, shoulder to waist: about 15 1/2"
Waist area to hem: about 30"

♛The Condition

Very good vintage shape with no overt flaws or issues that I could find. Clean-clean fabric -- dry-cleaned recently. Really excellent for the era! I did find a tiny hole (grain of sand-sized) on the edge of the hip detail, but it's layered on top of more of the same fabric so it does not show. Also, this dress had some open side seams when I got it, and I've taken it to be professionally closed by my seamstress, so it will sturdy and perfect for the new owner.
