An antique silver plate tea pot from England.

This petite tea pot has a lovely ornate design: bands of stylised flowers and foliage, scalloped pattern and scrolls. It dates to the late 1800's and is probably electro plate nickel silver.

It has been mongramed to one side, but it is difficult to make out the initials. They could read M, E, A, but not necesarliy in that order! The handle and lid finial are of ebonised wood. Both may be removed for cleaning and polishing. I love the aged patina though, so I've just given it a gentle clean.

Marked H. W. & Co., which I have identified as Horace Woodward & Co. Ltd. of Birmingham, England. The logo above was in use from 1884. It also bears the mark of J. A. Aitchison with an Edinburgh address which I assume was the retailer.

Aside from the tarnish and minor wear to the silver, it is in good condition. No dents or holes, and it pours well. Stands 7" high by 8" wide including spout and handle and holds 1 litre or 32 U.S. ounces.
