This is a lampshade made from a lovely, blue globe with multi-colored landmasses. This is a vintage 12-inch-diameter Repogle World Classic Series Globe. Perfect for a variety of different types of rooms - It is a fabulous statement piece!

These lampshades are not only great in a living room, student's room, or child's room, but they are also wonderful for a library or in a room with any kind of travel-theme, historical theme, or Eco-theme.

!!!!l!!! PLEASE NOTE - THE LAMP IS NOT INCLUDED !!!!!!!

I made this lampshade by carefully cutting off the bottom portion of the globe (approximately 2 inches below the equator) - which gives the lampshade a very nice look. I painted the raw-cut edge with silver metallic paint to seal it. I also added a silver trim around the outside edge of the shade. I then added a very pretty beaded trim (with blue and clear beads) around the inside of the cut edge. I also glued on to the top of the globe, the original disk from the top of the globe (which come on most globes and indicate time line divination's). The inside of the shade/globe was left alone - I love how it looks inside because you can see how the globe was originally built/put-together. You can even see some of the cut-marks and glue-lines.

FYI, I included pictures of the lampshade on a lamp so you can see how the shade would look on a lamp. But the lamp and the brass finial are not included in the sale!! This sale is for the lampshade only!

This lampshade is 12 inches in diameter and approximately 8 inches tall with another 1&1/2 inches added to the height due to the length of the hanging beading.

I strive to find ways to re-use and re-purpose used, discarded items to give them a new life. Because this lampshade was made from a vintage lamp - there may be small nicks or other types of marks. Part of the charm of this lampshade is that it had a former life as a globe. When I look closely at the globe, I see very little in the way of wear- marks (or scuff marks) on the outside of the globe. If you are concerned, I would be happy to send you a couple of close-up pictures.

Please note that this lampshade is made from a globe that is paper-based (strong, thick paper). Therefore, just like any other paper-based lampshade - no light bulb should ever be allowed to touch the shade (because of the potential to catch on fire!). And I would recommend that the light bulb used be less than 60 watts. Additionally, you should never leave any lamp on unattended for long periods of time.

Also, for cleaning, I recommend a gentle dusting with a dry cloth. Using wet cleaners on the globe may remove the finish or design/printing of the globe.

Please convo me if you have questions about the lampshade. I will be making other lampshades as I have had several globes in my craft room waiting for a couple of years... so if you have specific sizes or colors you are interested in, I may be able to accommodate your request.

Thank you so much for viewing my Lampshade. For additional information (including a code for an additional discount on your purchase!) and a few pictures showing this lampshade (and others) being made, please see my blog: http://re-coveredtreasures.blogspot.com or www.re-coveredtreasures.com
