Textile Fiber Art Quilt, Nature Scene, Wall Art

This original quilt idea came from a hike through the Maine woods. Coming upon a dead stump with green vines growing up through it, I took a photo.

The stump is made from paint, painted onto the fabric directly. I used Pebeo, setacolor transparent paints without adding water. Then heavily threaded with different thread colors and on top of that some fiber embellishments to create a three dimensional feel. Washed at this stage and dried to make sure nothing ran. Added to the background are pieces of raw edge appliquéd flowers and leaves. A photo of a chickadee was transferred onto fabric then heavily quilted.

Flowers are Trilliums, Spring Larkspurs and Canadian Anemone’s. This quilt is heavily quilted with numerous thread colors to give it more depth.

Published in Machine Quilting Magazine Sept/Oct issue in customer quilts.

Size: 40” x 40”

Colors: Earth tones, greens, white, browns, tans, black, purple, reds and grays. All batik fabrics. Bound with the same batik as the center fabric.

Name of this quilt is: “Cycle of Life”

**** Note this quilt will not be available to ship until April 1, 2013.

The quilt is ready to hang with a sleeve already attached. A label with my name and number of quilt is attached to the sleeve.
