Incredible, breathtakingly beautiful gown. This fabulous gown, possibly made in the 1950's has the look of a 1920's gown. The velvet Devore burnout floral fabric is in a creamy/champagne color. Alluring fishtail train in back. Shelf bust bodice with plunging back-line.

There are no tags so it is difficult to date exactly or confirm the content of the fabric. The gown was acquired in the 70's from a reputable antique clothing dealer. So, I can only confirm that it was at least produced during the 70's. However after consulting with a few vendors, the gown is thought to be 50's.

The fabric is so amazingly soft and billowy, you will float in this gown. The amazing burnout design is of scattered rose leaves. The Devore technique created by the French in the 20's entailed using a chemical to slowly dissolve the fibers in specific areas to create a design. The French word Devore means to devour.

The construction of this gown is incredibly flattering to the female figure. The cut on the bias and weight of the fabric causes it to hug the hips and then naturally taper at the thighs down to the ankles, creating a stunning silhouette. This is the gown to descend a spiral staircase in.

There are 3 tiny mother of pearl-esque baby buttons at the top of each shoulder. Tiny peach colored silk ribbon florets adorn the bodice. The entire gown is bordered with tiny silk ribbon edging.

I believe this garment is lingerie because it is so sheer, however it may have had a long, silk vintage slip underneath. With a slip it could definitely be worn as a dress.

The gown is in incredible, used vintage condition, having only a few issues;
1. The tiny ribbon edging shows wear in the arm hole area. Not very visible, but please convo me for more photos.
2. There are a few faint stains in back towards the bottom around the ankle area that really don't show when on. However, one stain is a sort of faint tea colored stain that is a little higher up and more visible. It falls around the lower calf area.

34" Bust however it could fit up to a slim 36" the fabric has a little give to it
26" Waist
30" Just below bust
34" Hips
62" Length from shoulder to hem
