The Republic of Haiti was the first independent nation in Latin America, and the first black-led republic in the world, when it gained independence as part of a successful slave revolution in 1804. The Haitian coat of arms symbolizes the battle for independence of the republic. The motto, in French, means "Strength through unity".

This vintage coin (1979-?) has a soft gray patina and few beauty marks ~ acquired naturally with age and travel. It is a large coin, with the same size of a US half-dollar.

The bead is hematite stone.

The cord is black neoprene (like a diver's wet suit) and 20" in length, with a sterling silver clasp. A top-quality item made in the USA.

If you would like to see an aspect of this design *tweaked* ~ just send me a note, and we'll talk!
