I found three dresses all made by the same talented dressmaker in the late 1960s or early 70s. I have never seen home sewn dresses so beautifully made. The detailing, inside and out, is immaculate, and the styles hark back to an earlier age. This one has a 1940s feel to it. Fashioned with short sleeves, self-buttons down the front, rever collar, matching belt and metal side zipper. It has a pleated skirt with sewn-down pleats that are released below the hips for a slim-line look. So flattering!

I love the fabric. I believe this is a Liberty print. It's a cotton in the sort of tiny floral motif that was so fashionable in this era - pink, green and tiny blue flowers, on a cream ground. Gorgeous!

Dress fastens with the buttons at the neck, and a side nylon zipper.
