Vintage Commerative World Globe - USSR

This little guy is a commemorative piece which was produced by the former USSR, and celebrated the first flight in orbit by a human. Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin went into Space and circled Earth successfully on April 12th, 1961.

The first flight served to speed up the space race to the Moon between the two World Powers of the Cold War Era, the former Soviet Union (USSR) and the United States of America (USA).

The globe and the base are made of bakelite. The Globe itself has a metallic finish in bright gold! The base has the date of the flight embossed in Cyrillic. Attached to the Globe is a wire which circles the Earth and has a red colored bakelite rocket on its tip. The piece measures approximately 2.75" high and has a diameter of 2"!!

The condition of the piece is very good !! The base and globe are in excellent condition with no breaks or chips, There is one tiny imperfection at the very bottom of the base (picture #2) and when examined looks like it occured in production! The wire encircling the globe has no oxidation and the entire piece is firm and displays extremely well!!

While this piece is small in size, it is large in its historical value as an original piece of the Space Race Era!!

This piece sells at over $200.00 retail and this is your chance to obtain a rare piece of history at a fraction of the retail cost!!!

As Always, ENJOY!!!
