What a great listen this record is. Capitol's over-the-top notes on the back of the cover are pure fandom:

"America's newest Big Band Sound!"
"A Tidal-Wave of Fresh Musical Expression!"

... That's the way a prominent music critic spoke of the great, new BILLY MAY BAND. Long associated with the top circles in music and show business, Billy was featured with the late Glenn Miller as trumpeter and arranger ... later he was identified as the brilliant composer-arranger on such shows as Red Skelton, Bob Crosby, Duffy's Tavern , and Ozzie and Harriet Nelson. Capitol is proud to bring you the first really new big band style in a decade. Billy's new orchestra has taken the country by storm ... in a few short months, thousands have clamored for more of that great may music. Here is an excitingly fresh approach in orchestration - intonation - driving rhythm ... Here's BILLY MAY ... for wonderful dancing ... for thrilling listening!

It's a fine collection of songs and the band steps out smartly ... with exuberance - the arrangements are exciting and jazzy. It's all quite invigorating. A great listen!
