This pure bronze holy medal is a beautifully detailed replica. It was cast from an antique original. Hand cast in the USA of solid bronze using the lost wax method. Heirloom Quality - it will add an ornate look yet decidedly vintage feel to your jewelry collection. Excellent casting of Our Lady Of Remedies on the front and a wonderful image of Saint Michael on the reverse. Very nicely weighted. A favorite with many jewelry designers! It also makes a beautiful French style center piece for any necklace design!

One of the patron Saints of the Philippines, devotion to Mary under the title "Our Lady of Remedies" first began in Manila in 1624. Her feast day is celebrated on the third Sunday in November with many processions and festivities.

"St. Michael Protector of France, Pray for Us".

St. Michael is most often seen slaying a dragon with a lance or sword. The dragon is "that old serpent who is called the devil and Satan" that St. Michael vanquishes as depicted in this medal. He is also sometimes seen carrying a shield with a cross as its heraldic device.

St. Michael, the Archangel - Feast day - September 29th The name Michael signifies "Who is like to God?" and was the war cry of the good angels in the battle fought in heaven against Satan and his followers. Holy Scripture describes St. Michael as "one of the chief princes," and leader of the forces of heaven in their triumph over the powers of hell. He has been especially honored and invoked as patron and protector by the Church from the time of the Apostles.

Although he is always called "the Archangel," the Greek Fathers and many others place him over all the angels - as Prince of the Seraphim. St. Michael is the patron of grocers, mariners, paratroopers, police and sickness.
