1930s Art Deco Finely Detailed Curled Feather Brooch 7.5cm

Art deco (c.1908 to 1935)
Art deco began in Europe, particularly Paris, in the early years of the 20th century. It reigned until the outbreak of World War II.

The trend for feathers in fashion was never more popular than in the art deco period, worn in hair clips, shawls, hats and fabric designs as well as interior design they were everywhere.

This is an exquisite silver plate feather brooch with fine detailing in the barbs. Not sure of the metal but believed to be brass plate. Lovely deep colour, mainly due to patination. In great condition, pin still strong. The C clasp has been repaired with solder, which, although is not the prettiest job I've seen, makes it probably stronger than when it was first made.

This would look great hidden within a fur hat or fur coat collar. Could possibly benefit from cleaning but I have left it with its original patina in place.

Measures 2.5 inches in length and 1.5 inches at it's widest point. Sourced in London, I have come across several of these in the past, and always happy to snap them up. This is the first I have found in a while, they don't last long on the market.
