Offspring of Country Chickenhawk, the notable pedigree of these baby Chickenhawk butterflies contains a link to the majestic Red Tailed Hawk. And just like their parents and ancestors, they are a common prey species, although they’ll rarely prey on standard sized chickens. As the young chickenhawk matures, you’ll be amazed with their eagerness to learn hunting skills so one day they can participate in falconry, just like their red tailed hawk cousin. What a great fairy tale. There really is no such thing as a chickenhawk butterfly, but it sure makes for a great story.

Just like their mother, Country Chickenhawk Butterfly, these handmade stoneware youngsters are layered in brown, tan, rust, yellow-orange and cream glazes to match the beautiful markings of the red tailed hawk. They’re also top-coat glazed in a beautiful opalescence to shimmer like the dark outline feathers of the red-tailed hawk.

The block where the baby chickenhawk butterflies have gathered is worn, weathered and distressed and hand painted in layers of matte rusty brown, sienna, mustard, blue and cream.

Baby Chickenhawk Butterflies measure 5-3/4 inches tall, 6-1/4 inches wide and 3-1/4 inches deep. The block includes a hanging hole on the back for wall display and my artist signature on the front.

Like the infamous jackalope, Baby Chickenhawk Butterflies are sure to make an entertaining conversation piece to “tall tales” enlighten your friends and visitors. Chickenhawk Butterflies were created to bring a smile and just be fun, unique and beautiful wherever they’re displayed – especially on the trophy wall. Do you believe in Chickenhawk Butterflies?
