I use the ancient art of embossing metal called chasing and repousse to form designs. This trinity or triqueta Celtic knot was chased into silver entirely by hand, using steel tools I made myself. The process involves first stabilizing annealed metal in pitch and imprinting the design with thousands of tiny taps to the steel punch, chasing the lines along the metal. Then the piece was removed and turned over and the knotwork was pushed from behind for dimension (repousse). Finally the piece was turned again and chased again to sharpen the edges and a background texture was added.

Please note, this is not stamped-out or pressed from a mold, but rather hand fabricated making each piece unique with its own character.

I then added a light antiqued patina using diluted liver of sulfur and buffed the highlights.

I paired this with a regal dark purple cabochon of natural amethyst, 6 x 8 mm and a sterling silver bail.

The triangular pendant is about 25 mm (1 inches) on a side and it would hang 1 7/8 inches including the bail.
