In 1971, W. Goebel of West Germany produced its first annual Hummel plate for their factory workers to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the firm. The plate was then produced for regular sales and was so well received in the U.S., it was decided that a similar plate would be released annually. Through 1995, Goebel released one new design per year bearing a traditional Hummel figurine motif handpainted in bas relief.
"Just Resting" (HUM 287, TMK - 7) was the twenty-first plate to be released.
