Vintage Vera Neumann "Forbidden Fruit" cup and saucer and small plate by WaveSong on Etsy. Bright fruit in dark teal, chartreuse and navy on bowls with wide hand painted pottery brush strokes. Dark navy blue apples, turquoise grapes and lime berries. Vera's Island Worcester Collection, VERY RARE from 1966. Vera Newmann was an iconic American artist, a pioneer in design who successfully cross-licensed her designs into linens, scarves and sportswear.

One cup 3 1/2 x 2 1/2" and saucer 6" x 3/4".

Plate 6 1/4 x 5/8". Hand Painted underglaze.

I also have four other cup and saucers total plus one extra saucer. One of the cups has a crack, one has crazing. Just convo me for information.

I have these other pieces of Forbidden Fruit listed:

All have the ladybug with the Vera logo. Made in Jamaica by Island Worcester in a hand-painted underglaze during the 60's -70's.

In the 1960s Vera Nuemann changed the home decor industry with the use of her bold colors and bright designs. It is said that she choose the ladybug as her logo because it is a symbol of good luck.

In all my travels through Etsy, I've only ever seen a few other pieces of pottery with Vera's logo. This collection was made in Jamaica and was rather short lived. If you have these dishes, hang onto them. They're quite rare.
