35mm photography zine - "Passing through Paddington" (London Black and White street photography)

These black and white photographs were captured over a period of about a year the zine explores the feeling of commuting through London's Paddington railway station. The morning rush, the evening drag home the amazing architecture of Brunel's great railway building. It captivated me every day and I hope I've caught the atmosphere in this little collection.

The pictures were mostly taken on a Olympus Trip 35 with Ilford HP5 film. I carried the camera with me every day and often I tried to shoot from inside the crowds. There's a mix of street photography and the what you might even call travel images. I photograph images that form in my mind as I see them, I've tried to catch a sense of the place. The packed staircases were a particular favourite. Most of the time they are almost empty.. but then a train empties and they are packed and you are swept along in the midst of the crowd.

In the hindsight of publishing this zine in 2021 it seems almost a lost world as we have travelled so little in the last year. These photographs were most taken in 2019.

There are 24 images on A5 pages plus the cover shots. With spiral lay-flat spine this is a little volume you can leave open on your favourite pages.
