I have combined some very pretty colours for you to play with! Pale lavender pink, hot pink and pale red. Have fun!

Silk carrier rods are the by-product of the spinning of silk. Each silk cocoon is placed on a metal rod which holds it in place whilst the silk is being spun off the cocoon. Periodically, the rods are cleaned of the build up of seracin (a gummy substance found in the silk) and stuck silk. This is the little case that you see pictured.

The silk carrier rods can be softened in the hand then separated into fine layers which can then be gently stretched to form fine layers. The fine layers can be used to make paper - lay the layers as shown in the final pic then add a light spray of water between 2 layers of baking parchment - iron on a warm setting and the layers will glue together with the aid of the seracin in the silk.

You are only limited by your imagination in how you could use these lovely little items in your mixed media or craft. Used in felt making they make a lovely textural contrast.

I hand dye all of my items using professional quality acid dyes for light-fastness and richness of colour.

6 rods approx 6" long
