The ancient wire technique called Viking Knit creates a distinctive, strong yet light chain. Samples of this age old weave have been found as far back as the middle ages and was used for jewelry for the wealthy.

Use these chains as embellishments for your own jewelry pieces. Add your own bead caps or cones and a pretty clasp for a complete piece. Or sew them into other items. All chains are completely handmade from the material I provide (see sample material listing below). Photo 5 shows what an unfinished chain end would look like.

Single weave will look like photos 1 and 3 - it has a looser weave and has a more lacy look.

Double weave looks like the samples in photos 2 and 5. Notice the distinct pattern in the chain.

Two-tone weave is simply two different wires woven together in the single weave technique. Check out samples in photo 4. This is a heavier chain than the single weave, and has a more organic look.

Chains will vary in diameter depending on the gauge of wire used. Typically the chains will be between 5mm and 8mm in diameter. A finer chain can be made from some materials. The larger diameter chains are tubed and can be strung with wire or beads.

Design possibilities are only limited to your imagination!

Single weave chains start at $3.00 per inch, two-toned weave and double weave start at $3.50 per inch. The total price will vary depending on the materials and whether findings are required.

Because these are made to your specifications, a custom order will be created for your purchase. The following information is necessary to accurately price your project.

- style of chain
- color (see note below)
- approximate diameter
- length of chain
- do you want unfinished chain or finished with bead cones/clasp?

Length conversion: 1 inch = 2.5 cm

Sample materials used:
Non tarnish silver plated
Tinned silver / stainless steel
Vintage Bronze (copper base)
Natural Copper with a non tarnish finish
Hematite also called gunmetal
Gold (tarnish resistant brass)
New: Rose Gold

Sterling silver, Argentium (non-tarnish sterling) and 14K gold are also available - the processing time on these materials will be longer as I don't keep this wire in stock. Current rates on these finishes will be provided at time of custom estimate as prices fluctuate.

Other colors are available - I use Artistic Wire brand wire in many of my pieces, so if you would like a specific color, I will make every attempt to obtain the required color/gauge. These custom orders might take longer than the usual time frame pending delivery of the supplies.
