I saw that Rachel Ashwell reproduced this sweet poem on paper and framed it in a simple, plain, brown frame (and charges a LOT for it). I thought I'd give it my own "twist". First, I created the "back board" from actual tongue and groove siding and then created a separate frame (from molding) to attach to the top surface.

Rather than print the poem on paper, I decided to create it in a font called "mom's typewriter" and reverse the image to produce on transfer paper. Then, I applied it to a beautiful flax-colored linen. The back board is done in a neutral "taupe" color with the top frame done in a milk black. Both are distressed for the warmer, worn look. Both were then oiled to add "age". The color combination compliments the linen nicely!

It is imperfectly perfect (in my opinion) and not only makes a great Mother's Day gift, but could easily become a family heirloom to hand down from generation to generation! There is no glass over the fabric - the fabric is wrapped around masonite! Approximate overall dimensions are 13 1/4" x 15 1/4". Sawtooth hanger is attached so that it's ready to hang.

Great gift idea for a mother-to-be, a new mom - even a grandma - such a sweet poem.
