Very pretty vintage eyeglasses made by the famous distinguished Italian eyewear brand Persol - Ratti... they feature an high quality oversized framing with a stunning brown honey fade, marked Optyl.... in 1964, Wilhhelm Anger developed and patented the ‘Optyl’ material, which was a heat-hardened plastic, weighing 20% less than acetate resulting in a reduction of allergic reactions and improved fit through a memory effect that provided permanent elasticity and dimensional stability.
These frames currently have prescription lenses, just waiting to be replaced with your own regular or sunglass prescription lens. Unfortunately they missed the original case!
Great vintage condition, consistent with age... some scratches inside the arms and inside the left lense frame... left arm missed the "P" metal brand mark (please see photo 5).

Written on the inside of the frame is:
* right --> "optyl" "Persol-RATTI"
* left --> "ITALY" "P20 22"

"Turin 1917, Giuseppe Ratti, photographer and owner of Berry Opticians, began an adventure destined to lead to international success. Indeed, it was in a small courtyard in Via Caboto that he began to make technically advanced glasses, designed to satisfy the demands of pilots and sports drivers who required comfort, protection and optimum vision.
Subsequent development of the Protector model, guided by an intuition and determination to create truly revolutionary sunglasses in terms of quality and ease of wearing, led to the creation of the Persol trademark (Persol from “per il sole” meaning “for the sun”, highlighting their function of protection against the sun’s rays).
Persol glasses have been worn by great names in international cinema who have chosen the Italian sunglasses par excellence not only on set but also in their day-to-day life. Persol’s long “filmography” began in the 1960s and continues to grow, marking a truly special and magical love story with the movie industry."
