This listing is for a hand carved wooden spoon made from cherry wood. Its rich auburn and warm honey hues are enhanced by the silky texture of cherry wood. I store a lot of my dry goods in mason jars and this skinny spoon works great for scooping out a little cornmeal to spread on my bread baking stone.

You are buying this exact item. It is 9" overall length and the bowl is 3" x 1-1/4". It is hand carved and shows the tool marks and irregularities of a handmade product. It has been both dry and wet hand sanded for a nice smooth finish.

North American Black Cherry wood is becoming more rare and valuable so I don't usually have access to it. It's also my favorite wood so I was pretty pleased when we got a call from a local contractor who was clearing a small timber for a neighbor and discovered a few nice cherry, maple and walnut trees. Even the contractor clearing the land couldn't stand to just push those nice logs into the burn pile and he made a special effort to salvage them for us and even helped us load them on our trailer.

It's been hand rubbed with several coats of a foodsafe mixture of beeswax and mineral oil. Hand wash and dry and every couple of months wipe it down with some mineral oil and it will last a lifetime.
