Gorgeous, US grown RAW California Varigated Mutant (CVM/Romeldale) Wool. The staple length is about 4 inches. Excellent lock structure and very little to no VM throughout. The farm I purchase my CVM/romeldale from keeps their flock covered to produce clean fleeces for spinners.

Description from Farmer:
Gem: Coated and heavily skirted very dark black CVM/Romeldale fleece from an adult ewe. This fleece has tips that have faded under the coat and will likely spin up a very dark brown, but the base of the staples is a dark, rich black. This is the finest of our CVM/Romeldale fleeces, testing out at an AFD of about 22 microns in 2008. The staples measure about 4" in length, although that varies a bit. This fleece has a gorgeous luster for the breed and an incredibly soft handle. This is a truly stunning fleece!

About CVM/Romeldale:
Truely a great fiber to work with. This particular breed is so easy to clean and card. It is a cross between a Romney and Rambouillet. They are a Critical Conservation Breed that was established as early as1915 for the white romeldale. Any colored lambs were instantly culled. The colored variations were not favored and bred until the 1960's. After generatiions of focusing on color and fleece quality the California Variegated Mutant (CVM) emerged. Romeldales can be white, or shades of redish to clear browns, and a full span of greys through blacks, either mixed or solid. CVM's are multicolored with specific color patterns. Some experts consider CVM to be a distinct breed from their parent Romeldale. This fiber is considered a fine fiber and has a micron range of 20-25. From my experience with several fleeces the CVM tends to be softer than the white Romeldale. However all is next-to-the-skin soft. The fibers will spin to create a very lofty yarn, great for sweaters.

This listing is for 4 oz of RAW CVM, which should give you around 3 oz of clean fiber when washed and prepped for spinning. What's listed is all I have left!

Due to import issues of raw fleece to other countries, I can only ship this to U.S. addresses. Thank you for understanding.

We have had a lot of inquiries and requests for individual paint offerings. While we do not offer individuals at this time, we are working on that as a long-term goal for the shop. Our focus has been creating these sets to be unique and different from other handmade paints that are available. Each of the sets we offer are the result of hours of searching and testing to get the right colors for the artistic expression we were aiming for. We are starting to get in a great routine and schedule where we can start to think beyond these sets. Follow us in Instagram for updates and announcements on the availability of individual paint offerings.
Short answer: Yes. Long answer: Most of the pigments we use have been rated as 'non-toxic' by any outside entity. A few of the pigments we use have not. However, those that have not been rated ‘non-toxic’ have no documented toxicity or health issues to humans. Additionally, we use all natural and organic ingredients in our binding solution. For the purpose of watercolor painting, our paints are perfectly safe. We choose to work with natural pigments, ochres and minerals mined from the Earth and avoid the use of modern synthetics or known toxic pigments. If for some reason that ever changes, we will label and advertise the paints accordingly.
Depends on the request. At this time we can accommodate requests to reserve one of our color palettes when they are available. Changes or alterations to the palette colors may not be as easily accommodated.

Depending on current supply and demand, we may also be able to fulfill requests to add one or two more colors to an order outside the signature color palettes offered. Best way to know is to ask. Simply message Angelique via Etsy Conversations and she'll respond as soon as possible.

All reserved and custom orders must be paid in full within two days of being posted.
