Gorgeous, US grown RAW California Varigated Mutant (CVM/Romeldale) Wool. The staple length is about 4 inches. Excellent lock structure and very little to no VM throughout. The farm I purchase my CVM/romeldale from keeps their flock covered to produce clean fleeces for spinners.

Description from Farmer:
Kaylen: Coated and heavily skirted, multi-color gray (from very pale to medium gray, but mostly very pale gray/nearly white) CVM fleece. This fleece is variegated both within staples and along staples - it exhibits some of the banding that has been evident on many of our hogget fleeces this year among our Romeldales. This is a very uniform fleece with a 4" staple, and exceptional crimp and luster for the breed. Her fleece is also exceptionally soft to the touch (AFD testing currently underway). Another very lovely fleece!

About CVM/Romeldale:
Truely a great fiber to work with. This particular breed is so easy to clean and card. It is a cross between a Romney and Rambouillet. They are a Critical Conservation Breed that was established as early as1915 for the white romeldale. Any colored lambs were instantly culled. The colored variations were not favored and bred until the 1960's. After generatiions of focusing on color and fleece quality the California Variegated Mutant (CVM) emerged. Romeldales can be white, or shades of redish to clear browns, and a full span of greys through blacks, either mixed or solid. CVM's are multicolored with specific color patterns. Some experts consider CVM to be a distinct breed from their parent Romeldale. This fiber is considered a fine fiber and has a micron range of 20-25. From my experience with several fleeces the CVM tends to be softer than the white Romeldale. However all is next-to-the-skin soft. The fibers will spin to create a very lofty yarn, great for sweaters.

This listing is for 4 oz of RAW CVM, which should give you around 3 oz of clean fiber when washed and prepped for spinning. What's listed is all I have left!

Due to import issues of raw fleece to other countries, I can only ship this to U.S. addresses. Thank you for understanding.
