Gorgeous pair of antique bracelets, circa 1870s. It was the fashion at that time to wear a matched pair of bracelets, one on each wrist, but it is rather difficult to find a pair that has not been separated over the years. Constructed of small, faceted jet (an organic fossilized material similar to amber) beads that culminate in a larger bead at each end. Subtle sparkle, elegant. The beads are strung on wire forms that keep their shape well but flex for ease of wear. These have a simple and very classic design, and look beautiful on the wrist. Each measures approximately 2 1/2" across and 1/4" thick, and will fit many wrist sizes due to the flexibility of the wire. They are in good condition for their age, showing only light overall evidence of wear/use.
