Vintage Harker White Rose Carv-Kraft Cameo Ware Blue Virginia Plate made for Montgomery Ward Circa 1945. This is a happy piece of vintage history, Harker Pottery and Montgomery Ward. Harker Pottery Company was sold to The Jeannette Glass Company and the plant was closed in 1972. Another Retail giant, Montgomery Ward shut down it's catalog business in 1985 .

Benjamin Harker was originally a farmer in East Liverpool, Ohio. He built a kiln and began making products from the clay deposits on his land. Numerous potteries sprang up with rapidity and the City became known as "Crockery City" and was the only community in the U. S. wholly devoted to the manufacture of pottery.

In 1945 Harper introduced Cameo ware. The White Rose pattern on blue ground was marketed as White Rose Carv-Kraft in Montgomery Ward Stores. Cameo ware was a process that Harker pottery perfected. Color and design was applied under the glaze where it can't wear off.

This piece is called an Virginia Plate it measures 12" X 11". The piece is in excellent shape, looks like it was in some one's collection. There is some crazing, see photos # 2 and # 4, because of the glazing process it does not detract from the beauty of this piece.

I fell in love with this color and design the minute I saw this collectible. I would like to share this unusual beauty to create hospitality at your own address.

Dr Who called again, and wants me to save this for him, I just laughed and told him to go my Etsy Shop and stimulate my economy!

So on our next adventure we can hit some Paris Flea Markets, we seem to always miss them!
