I have such a soft spot for weird old things that people have concocted and made. Take a glass jug, cut it carefully to size, make a perfect light wood base with a ridge where the bottled can be adhered, and keep the cork in it. Voila, right?
So, this can be used for anything that can fit the 1" mouth of the bottle, a la ship-in-a-bottle. A little soil and moss, some teeny plants, some shells or little bones or treasures.
The wood base measures about 7" across and sits perfectly flat. Not counting the cork, the piece measures 6" tall. It's in good, obviously vintage condition, with some edge wear on the wood, some dust to wash away on the bottle, etc. But no chips or cracks in the glass and no warping of the wood. What a strange thing, altogether.
