This would be a unique gift for a bibliophile, a collector, a history buff, a writer, or a professor.

Beginning on December 7, 1893, this publication came out weekly. About half way through, it was mailed every two weeks, until 26 issues later, on May 24, 1894, it came to an end. John Clark Ridpath was an historian, and later, I believe, this writing was compiled into a book, but here it is in it's infancy, sent out in bits and pieces over the course of five months. Each issue ends abruptly, even in the middle of a sentence! The reader had to wait awhile to finish a thought!

These periodicals total 857 pages with an appendix. The series starts with the native peoples of this continent and ends with the Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. Most issues have one colored, pull-out section, historic photographs and drawings. The pages are thick, and each cover is identical. The orange color of the covers is faded around the edges, making me think they were stacked together for a very long time, and sunlight touched only the edges. The last issue (26) has lost its orange completely, so that one was probably on top. The cover on issue 26 has also separated from the binding.

The issues are bound with staples and binding glue. All the issues are intact, but the first one has lost its blank back page and the last one has a detached cover (as noted above). Notice how rough the bindings are. It's amazing they all have survived together in such good shape.

This is the description across the top of each issue: Unparalleled Educational Series, Subscription Price $13 per year, Published Weekly (or semi-weekly), date
