This is a large focal lentil shaped bead featuring the New Zealand native Pohutukawa tree. The upper part of the bead is a translucent "colour shifting" glass that will shift from purple to amber tones with changing light sources. Against the skin it will look more purple.

The Pōhutukawa is a NZ native coastal evergreen tree that is adorned with beautiful red flowers in the summer. It is also known as New Zealand's Christmas Tree. Renowned for its ability to survive perched on rocky, precarious cliffs, it has found an important place in New Zealand culture for its strength and beauty and is regarded as a chiefly tree (rākau rangatira) by Māori.

Dimensions: 37 mm round and 16 mm thick with a 2 mm hole. The hole runs from the top to bottom.

All my lampwork glass beads are made in my home studio using quality glass. Each bead is kiln annealed for durability, cleaned and inspected prior to being sold.

I photograph my jewellery and beads in natural light with minimal editing to retain the natural colours of the glass. However, different computer monitors will produce different colour spectrums and the beads may appear slightly different in colour and detail when viewed "in the flesh".
