50/50 superwash Merino/silk 4-ply fingering 437yds/100g

Hubble Space Telescope image that inspired this colorway:
http://hubblesite.org/gallery/album/pr1997038a

M2-9 is a striking example of a "butterfly" or a bipolar planetary nebula, and is reminiscent of twin jet exhaust. It would have to be a super-super-sonic jet, however, given that the velocity of the gas seen in the "exhaust" is in excess of 200 miles per second. By studying how the nebula's size increases with time, astronomers believe that the stellar outburst that formed the lobes occurred just 1,200 years ago. The central star in M2-9 is known to be one of a very close pair which orbit one another at perilously close distances.

About this yarn:

Interstellar Sock is a 50/50 blend of springy superwash merino with lovely, luscious silk. The fibers are well-combed and spun with a gentle twist for the right stability in these two lovely fibers. This 4-ply yarn creates beautiful drape in the knitted fabric. If you love silk socks, shawls, and scarves, you'll love knitting with this wonderful silk blend.

While this yarn is machine washable in cold water, hand washing can extend the life of the garment. Lay flat to dry.

This colorway is available as a custom order. Note that all my yarns are hand-dyed and no two skeins are the same, despite similarities.

This item is multicolored in pale blue and minty green tones with pale yellow highlights. This listing is for one 100g skein in the colorway shown. There are two skeins in this dyelot - they are virtually indistinguishable from each other. They are shown before and after re-skeining, so you have a better idea how the item will look knitted/crocheted. I take pictures that represent the color/texture of the item as accurately as I can. Please remember that monitors vary in how they render colors. If you have any questions, I welcome your conversation.

All my yarns are hand-dyed one at a time, using high-quality, professional dyes in a non-smoking, pet-free home.
