Gorgeous large antique early 1900s silver slide locket, no chain. Features beautiful intricate embossed flowers on both sides with a lovely worn silver-tone plating that reveals warm touches of brass throughout. Absolutely beautiful patina on this piece. It slides open to the left and reveals 2 worn period photos inside--a darling beauty in a big white hat coyly hidden behind plants and what appears to be a young man in uniform with a handwritten name on the other. No photo rings or coverings. The locket slides together and locks in place with a small puzzle-like mechanism at the bottom (see 3rd photo). It measures 2-3/8 inches x 1-1/2 inches (6cm x 3.7cm) including the opening at the top with an old worn brass link still attached. Plenty of plate wear to the metal, scuffs on the inside border from being slid open and closed over the years, and the photos are yellowed, faded, and slightly torn in spots. A beautiful and rare slide locket to be treasured!
